Led by Alexa Dies and Tyler Tinnes, our team spent the morning at Food Bank of the Rockies recently.  It was quite the experience for our team.  FBOR has a large warehouse on the east part of Denver and they have an amazing operation that delivers 44 million meals a year throughout the state of Colorado.  The vision for the organization is to make food security a reality for every Colorado family.  1 in 7 Coloradans does not know where their next meal will come from.  These are people you meet every day.  Those with low wages, children, seniors on fixed incomes and those with health issues.  Homeless represent only 10% of the recipients and nearly half of the food is distributed to feed children.

Our team was tasked with running a production line to box up goods for Elderly homes.  Each box weighed 29 pounds and contained a week’s worth of food including breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was amazing how quickly they got us up and running to get the boxes made, packed with food, wrapped up and loaded on a pallet.  Over the course of 4 hours, we boxed up 600 boxes of food and filled 10 pallets.  This helped get over 17,000 pounds of food out to families in need.  It was truly a joy for our team to be part of their mission for the day.

The Food Bank of the Rockies is built off of donations and volunteers.  They have a pool of over 20,000 volunteers that donated over 136,000 hours of time last year, but they always need more help.  If you are interested in getting together family, friends or your business team to volunteer, just click the link below.
