OVERVIEW
As a Network Cabling Technician, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient tone tracing, documentation, and maintenance of network cabling infrastructure. Your role will involve identifying wall jack locations and connecting them to their corresponding patch panel ports. Additionally, you will be expected to navigate and input data into spreadsheets, rectify faulty punch-downs, and possess a fundamental understanding of networks.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Perform tone tracing to identify wall jack locations and connect them to patch panel ports.
  • Document wall jack locations accurately and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Enter data into spreadsheets for inventory and documentation purposes.
  • Troubleshoot and fix faulty punch-downs as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective network connectivity.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of network infrastructure and terminology.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support and assistance as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience in network cabling or related field.
  • Proficient in navigating and entering data in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams and documentation.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and fixing faulty punch-downs.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and terminology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform cabling installations and maintenance tasks.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Certification in network cabling or related field (e.g., BICSI RCDD, CompTIA Network+).
  • Familiarity with cable testing equipment and tools.
  • Experience with fiber optic cabling installations and terminations.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for network infrastructure.
