TITLE: Systems Administrator
LOCATION: Lakewood, CO

The Systems Administrator provides system management and administration. This is a highly technical position responsible for all aspects of operations and maintenance of dispatch systems. Duties include performing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades to ensure optimum performance and reliability of technology.


  • Maintain all computer databases to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage end user configurations and access 
  • Maintain data files as necessary.
  • Identify and analyze system and user needs, as well as equipment requirements. Write system and user documentation, including suggesting language for policies and procedures. Develop and deliver user training and presentations on new systems and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems, documents anomalies and reviews error logs. Track open cases/help tickets; work with appropriate vendors on the resolution and prevention of issues.
  • Create, update and maintain computer-aided dispatch system properties and configurations.
  • Manage and maintain system interfaces that connect to CAD.
  • Coordinate and participate in system maintenance and upgrades.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Computer networking and SQL database experience.
  • Familiarity with computer aided dispatch (CAD) software, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts, and ESRI-based software.
  • Skill in giving verbal presentations.
  • Skill in demonstrating critical thinking and functioning under extreme stress.
  • Skill in following complex verbal and written instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Skill in communicating with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Skill in communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, Board members, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
  • Skill in making sound decisions in a manner consistent with the “Essential Duties, Functions and Responsibilities”.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the duties of the position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor degree or equivalent in an Information Technology-related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with demonstrated increasing responsibility in computer experience including technical support supporting multiple systems in Public Safety environments.
  • Prior experience in a Public Safety operations environment.
  • Ability to obtain CCIC/NCIC certification within six (6) months of hire. This includes being able to pass a background check. Ability to remain drug and alcohol free; marijuana use is not allowed, even if medically prescribed.
