TITLE: Database Administrator
LOCATION: NJ/NY/Dallas or Remote

OVERVIEW 
The Database Administrator (DBA) provides production support, maintenance, and oversight for our suite of data assets. This includes but is not limited to: database designs, create maintenance jobs, perform system health monitoring, troubleshoot failures, and administer the database environments, which include Microsoft SQL Server and MySql databases. The Database Administrator enables the operational readiness of all data assets; high availability, enterprise security, and optimized performance.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT 

  • Database Administration
    • Configure and administer all Production and Non-Production data environments including but not limited to: servers, services, Jobs, Windows Scheduler Tasks, system Logs, Transaction Logs and Database Infrastructure.
    • Monitor and maintain all data environments with heavy focus on system logs, transaction logs, database infrastructure health, capacity expansion, and debugging failed jobs and processes.
    • Create standards for enterprise data storage and periodic maintenance – maintenance plans, high availability configuration, performance tuning, optimization, reliability, and operational support
    • Manage the deployment component of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by partnering with data engineering and development teams
    • Implement administration best practices for data objects including but not limited to: partitioning, mirroring, replication, and filegroup segregation
    • Assign user permissions to data assets with appropriate Active Directory groups and roles 
    • Participate and grant approval for solutions designs developed by the data engineering and application development teams 
    • Ensure database files and objects are configured for encryption at rest and in transit.
    • Installation of custom code and configure table audit features to limit and monitor users access to sensitive data elements
    • Using Query Optimizer ensure ETL processes and stored procedures are designed for optimal run duration and lowest resource consumption.

WORK EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement / Continuous Delivery, and user provisioning with Azure Active Directory
  • General understanding of Azure Database Management with systems and networking integration 
  • Experienced with provisioning and Managing Azure Databases for both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform of a Service (PaaS)
  • Capable of design and support of commercial database server solutions technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, MYSQL, Azure SQL DB, Azure Data Factory, and SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Expert knowledge of data integration, ETL batch, real-time data processing, dimensional data modelling, reporting and operational datastores.
  • Extensive experience with design and implementation of complex Operational Data Store, Data Warehouse and Data Mart life cycle and design patterns
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking with focus on problem solving and converting business requirements into solution specification, design, and output.
  • Proficient with defect tracking processes and tools such as JIRA
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server features such as column store indexes and partitioning
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell script features and the ability to create new scripts. 
  • Capable of setting up and configuring a continuous integration environment
  • Excellent analytic skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within time constraints.
  • Excellent level of oral and written communication skills; Ability to communicate across a variety of audiences.
  • Expert level of computer skills and the ability to function in a windows environment utilizing Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Professional and effective interpersonal skills; Solid decision-making skills with display of professionalism in maintaining confidentiality. Ability to build strong relationships with internal business partners to achieve success.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge of departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong time management skills, fast learner, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Committed to taking responsibility and ownership for agreed actions and delivery. 
  • Reports to work on a daily and timely basis.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED  
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, math, or seven (7) years of equivalent work experience required 
  • Seven-Ten (7-10) years of experience in virtual, physical, and cloud-based Database Administration
  • Two-Three (2-3) years of experience in migrating and managing databases in cloud based multi-tenant platform hosted on Microsoft Azure.
  • Two-Three (2-3) years of experience administering MySQL Databases
  • Seven-Ten (7-10) years with transact SQL (t-SQL), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), PowerShell, Power BI, OLTP and OLAP database designs, Azure Data Factory, GIT, JSON, and Azure ARM Templates
  • Prior experience in the Mortgage Banking Industry, preferred.
