Requirements
Excellent written and oral communication skills who can traverse multiple levels of management and be able to work well with various technical groups including: network, database, applications and systems.
5+ years hands-on experience with HP Load Runner/ Performance Center
5 + years experience delivering web-based applications and services including Java and .Net tuning methodology
3+ years hands on experience reviewing network performance or monitoring end user experience with APM tool suite (i.e., OPNET, OPTIER, CA Vantage)
Experience of testing in financial domain
Basic Unix and shell scripting
More than 10 years experience in Performance Monitoring, Analysis and Capacity Planning
Ability to accurately determine root cause and class of system error for proper resolution communicate failures and questionable results with suggested areas of failure.
Ability to analyze/interpret technical data and provide recommendations to bottlenecks.
Experience in analysis of throughput, latency, memory and CPU utilization, page load/visit times (web log data)
Analysis of application performance including .NET and Java
Trending and capacity forecasting of resource usage (processor, disk, memory, network requirements as well as storage)
Working knowledge of the following:
Windows, and Unix (specifically AIX) Operating System tuning methods. Working knowledge of Database tuning methods- Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server
Basic knowledge of network architecture
Basic knowledge of SAN architectures and tuning methods
BS in Mathematics or Computer Science with 10 years experience in performance testing and/or capacity planning MS or higher is preferred.
Essential Functions with percent of time spent and importance rating 1, 2, 3 (1 is highest)
Monitoring and Reporting for existing applications/systems and infrastructure. Ranking # 1 57%
Data collection and reporting for existing Windows, VMware and AIX applications as well as EMC Storage
Analyst will work to automate data collection, monitoring and trending of resource usage information for these platforms and infrastructure.
Responsible for the creation and execution of performance scripts utilized for capacity and performance testing. Ranking # 2 38%
Responsible for the monitoring and analysis of performance data during and after performance testing
Creation of load testing reports for each project/application under test.
Maintenance of Software for Load Runner and Environment and Scheduling/Coordinating testing Efforts - Ranking # 3 3%
Assist with the establishment of recommendations and standards for configuration of servers and applications e.g., Websphere, JAVA, and .NET applications. Ranking # 3 2%
Overall Purpose of Job
As a result of new projects, many new applications will be deployed and many changes are on-going to the system infrastructure requiring capacity and performance engineers to ensure that any applications deployed will properly scale and meet expected SLAs. This individual will be working with architects, developers, business teams, and business analysts to design valid tests, make performance recommendations, create and execute load/performance tests, and validate test results. Testing engineer will work to plan, manage, execute, and report load and performance results. Ensure that the capacity of client systems meets current and future business requirements in a cost-effective manner. Correlate business growth projections with trend analysis of historical performance data to predict when a system will no longer meet defined operating targets. Monitoring and trending of resource usage for existing systems and infrastructure will also be required as those systems and infrastructure will be impacted by new systems and changes to existing systems.
