About the Job:
Our client is a premier full-time employee based technology firm seeking developers with Senior Core Ruby, Web service and Server development skills. Our growing Content Solutions Practice which caters to a growing list of clients within the Media, Financial, Publishing, Entertainment, Health industries in New York City. We are seeking talented candidates to continue our steady growth.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must have great problem solving and communication skills, act as a resource for junior developers, and be comfortable in a hands-on capacity at all levels of the design, development, testing, and deployment cycle.
All candidates must possess a strong foundation in computer science and have demonstrated a proven track record of sound code design, reuse, and maintenance. Ideal candidates possess end-to-end knowledge of the web service and web application space including performance and scalability design and tuning, data processing, and general knowledge of open source products and frameworks. In addition, the successful candidate will have expertise in general system administration in Mac/Unix/Linux environments, database administration and tuning, and web server configuration. The candidate will need to have the following:
· Server Side Core Ruby Programming skills
· Strong Unix/Linux command line scripting skills
· Strong object oriented and procedural skills
· Strong relational database skills (MySQL, Oracle)
· Understanding of runtime environment issues
· Understanding of networking protocols and status codes
· Good understanding of Apache web server configuration, tuning, and extension modules
Experience with ColdFusion, Javascript, AJAX is a plus. Experience with Memcached is a plus. XML and message processing is a plus.
Opportunities:
The candidate will work closely with clients and team members to develop efficient web services in Ruby, along with wrappers and related application code in ColdFusion for our client. Using a broad array of web technologies, candidates must appreciate both the User Experience and Technology aspects of successful service architecture and work with clients to define their requirements and shape their vision for development.
