Network System Administrator, CA
Immediate need for a Network Solutions Engineer for consulting engagement in San Jose, CA
BridgeView IT seeking Network Engineer for project supporting the network design, implementation and operations of a global/distributed enterprise IT organization.
This position involves documenting existing network configurations, developing detailed migration plans and will also provide hands and feet support to the Windows and Unix teams for servers and backup equipment. Knowledge of building facilities, networking, network cabling systems, data center support systems, and telco circuits is critical. This includes in-depth knowledge of networking and security protocols.
Main area of responsibility
- Assess LAN, WAN and Transport requirements
- Assess telephony requirements
- Assist with and complete logical design and equipment definition of LAN, WAN, and telephony systems and place orders
- Complete circuit inventory of existing environment
- Document requirements for new campus circuits and place orders
- Deploy LAN, WAN, telephony equipment
- Decommission old equipment and circuits
- Document existing and “as is” environments
- Develop and execute LAN, WAN and Telephony test plans
- Maintain Network configurations and Security Standards
Experience:
- Prior senior administration of LAN and WAN
- Extensive knowledge of OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS
- 3+ years routing and switching – Layer 2/3, dynamic routing, static routing, VLAN, trunks
- 3+ years firewall and VPN experience – Maintaining policies, logging, central mgmt – point-to-point and client VPN
- 3+ years of experience with Windows OS
- Previous experience working with circuit carriers – order, installation, troubleshoot
- Previous experience with VoIP – site-to-site, hard and soft phones
- Previous experience with 10’s of sites connected via private and public links across the globe
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word as well as Visio
Education:
- College degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent, or equivalent experience.
- Cisco or equivalent network certification
- Firewall certification a plus
