Job Description
Position Overview :
The successful candidate will need to define and improve desktop architecture, processes, and governance. This person will interact at all levels, with Enterprise Architecture, IT operations, support teams, all business technology organizations and end users. This involves revisiting the current desktop architecture and finding a strategy for migrating to a newly defined future.
Responsibilities :
· Develop comprehensive understanding and document current state of our client’s desktop architecture
· Identify key opportunities to enhance desktop architecture
· Develop strategies to reduce unneeded applications on the desktop and reducing costs through alternative solutions
· Prepare and deliver presentations to partner teams and to senior management that effectively communicate current state and strategy to achieve significant improvements
· Review, evaluate and certify gold builds; develop standards for gold builds in coordination with infrastructure teams
· Manage the patching process for all desktops
· Participate in determining virtualization strategy and future state direction
· Participate in vendor discussions, RFI’s, etc.
Qualifications
Experience:
· Minimum of 7 years of experience designing and maintaining desktop environments. Experience must include defining strategy and interaction with users and senior management.
· Extensive experience designing and implementing desktop architectures including open source solutions
· Senior level understanding of security requirements associated with PC implementations
· Experience certifying gold builds of PCs
Education:
· BA/BS degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
